SeaStatus is operated by Southeast Software Solutions LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company doing business as SeaStatus ("SeaStatus", "we", "us"). By using SeaStatus — the website, the app, or any page on this domain — you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.
SeaStatus turns public marine data into a simple green/yellow/red recommendation about launching a recreational boat. It is informational. It is not an official forecast, not a navigation aid, and not a safety device. Please read Safety & Limitations — those limits are part of these terms.
You're responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for activity under your account. Give us an email address you actually control. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app; deletion is immediate and permanent. Deleting your account does not cancel a SeaStatus Pro subscription — cancel that first (see below), or it will keep renewing.
We may suspend or remove an account that's being used to attack, overload, or abuse the service.
Live conditions are free. SeaStatus Pro is an optional paid subscription that adds the 7-day forecast, trip monitoring while you're on the water, and live cameras where camera coverage exists. Current prices are shown before you buy; applicable taxes may be added at checkout.
Free trial. New subscribers may get a free trial. A card is required to start one on the web. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you're charged automatically. Trials are limited to one per person.
Auto-renewal. Pro renews automatically — monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you chose — and you're charged at the start of each period until you cancel. If we change the price, we'll tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next renewal, not your current period.
Where you subscribed decides how billing works. A subscription is tied to your SeaStatus account, so it works on both the app and the website, but it's billed by whoever you bought it through:
Cancelling. You can cancel any time. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for, and it doesn't renew after that. We don't give prorated refunds for the unused part of a period.
Refunds. For web subscriptions, email support@seastatus.app and we'll refund your most recent charge — the current or last billing period. Pro ends when the refund is issued. Earlier charges aren't refundable. App Store purchases have to be refunded through Apple, and Google Play purchases through Google.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we'll retry it for a limited time. If it still can't be collected, Pro ends.
Pro doesn't change what SeaStatus is: the forecast, trip alerts, and cameras are informational, subject to the same limitations, and depend on third-party data and camera operators that can go offline or be wrong.
Don't scrape or bulk-download the site, don't attempt to break or circumvent access controls, and don't resell or redistribute SeaStatus data as your own product. Normal use — including checking conditions as often as you like — is fine.
Underlying observations and forecasts come from public sources — NOAA, including the National Weather Service, NDBC buoys and CO-OPS tide and weather stations — and remain subject to their terms. Routes follow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Waterway Network (public domain). Places along the water come from the Overture Maps Foundation (CDLA-Permissive-2.0) and OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Camera feeds belong to their operators; we link to them and don't claim any rights in them. The scoring, the site, and the software are ours.
SeaStatus — free and Pro alike — is offered with no uptime commitment. It may be unavailable, delayed, or wrong at any time — including when you most want it. Never plan around it being available.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Southeast Software Solutions LLC and its members, managers and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of the service or reliance on anything it displays. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
These terms may change as the service does. Material changes will be reflected in the date above. Continuing to use SeaStatus after a change means accepting it.
